Big sister room...

My Dad and Karen were able to make it down the other weekend and REALLY help us get things put together. And Amelia was a BIG help for Grandma....she helped Daddy and Grandma clean (watch the video below), helped fix her door and helped Grandpa hang up all of the shelves. When Grandpa needed a certain tool he asked Amelia for it and she handed it right to him...she really knows her tools!

So she's officially in her big sister room and LOVING it! She has done such a great job too. Again, this was another case where mom and dad were more nervous than she was. She was just simply excited to have the BIG room and not the little one anymore! Typical girl. She slept great her first night in her new room. For her first nap in her new room she didn't even want me to read her stories she wanted Grandma too!

Dacia and Ellie came down later in the afternoon and brought all of Ian's clothes and some baby stuff. She washed everything for us. We're almost completely ready (yeah, right)...we especially need to get the bassinet and crib bedding washed and put on though. I should probably pack my hospital bag!!!

I love this photo...it looks like Ellie is punching Amelia.

I think they look like sisters here. Amelia told me later that night that she had fun playing with Ellie. Anytime Ellie cried Amelia would hug her and tell her "everything's ok." She's going to be a wonderful big sister!

Baby boy might be here sooner than later......

I had my 33 week check-up today and surprisingly I was already 1 cm dilated and 50% effaced (which means my cervix is thinning). They hooked me up to monitor my contractions for about 20 minutes and the contractions I did have I knew I was having....they wanted to see if there were more contractions that I was unaware of. My doctor said she is not overly concerned at the moment but put me on partial bedrest and I was told to cut out most all of my activities. I go back on Tuesday for another checkup. If I am dilated more she'll most likely put me on bed rest.

Our goal now is to get to 36 weeks (same time Amelia was born). This news could be much worse or I could not be as far along as I am — then I'd be really nervous. But even if I can make it to 35 weeks I will feel much better about everything and his lungs will most likely be completely formed and ready for breathing on his own.

I'll keep you all updated. Wish us luck.

Ooops...

Tyler just informed me that I was sorely mistaken when I said he was rapping Arrested Development...it was Tribe Called Quest. Please forgive me honey! :-)

Saying goodbye...

is apparently easy to do when you're 2!

Amelia's teacher Chris (the brunette) is moving on to another school and today was her last day...it was more tragic for me, I think. Thankfully she will still have Miss Niki (the blonde)...whom she LOVES very much!!!

Happy St. Patty's Day!

We did nothing exciting except wear green...at least it was a nice day outside!

32 weeks!!!

Oh my oh my how time is flying by! I can't believe I'm 32 weeks into this pregnancy! This little boy has been SO active! Like night and day compared to my pregnancy with Amelia. He is constantly on the move and pushes so hard against my belly that it will grow 2 inches in the matter of seconds depending on how he's pushing. He wakes up even when I roll over in my sleep or get up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. I hope this is NO indication of what life will be like on the outside!!! Oh, and he has hiccups ALL of the time!

It's really starting to get uncomfortable now. I'm constantly out of breath (I was in mid conversation with a friend and was breathing heavily just because I couldn't catch my breath...and we were standing still!) My hips have really started to hurt too....sitting is uncomfortable because my tailbone area hurts so bad and standing for long periods doesn't work well either. Laying on my left side is the only time I feel any relief, but that gets old quickly.

I had a check-up at 31 weeks and all looked good. I go again next week.

My dad will be coming down this weekend to help us get Amelia transitioned into her "Big Sister" room. We've got lots of furniture to move, shelving to hang and a crib to put back together! I am excited for this next phase though. I know it won't be easy, but I am looking forward to it all.

Rapping with Daddy

After her bath she was in a super silly mood. Tyler started rapping some Tribe Called Quest from back in the early 90's and Amelia chimed right in with her own rap and dance moves! THIS IS CLASSIC!!!

Bedhead and Lil' Coolio

No kidding, this is how she woke up one early March morning...it made me laugh so hard I had to get the camera. She thought it was pretty funny too. Doesn't she look like a Dr. Seuss character!? (Don't forget, you can click on the photos and they'll blow up bigger.)

And this is how I picked her up from school one day. I really wasn't sure WHAT to think! She apparently asked for "silly ponies" and this is what they gave her! Her teachers are wonderful...and quite funny!

Our little swimmer

Amelia finished up her second 8 week swim class at the end of February....she's like a fish in the water! These classes were something special for Amelia and I to do together on Saturday mornings. We'd wake up, have breakfast, watch one cartoon, get our swim suits on and drive to the Dublin Rec Center. The class was 30 minutes long and then we'd struggle to take a shower together in those tiny locker room showers! But then we'd grab lunch and both be very ready for a good nap!
