Weeks 1 & 2

This is our first day home with Oliver. Amelia held him for about 30 seconds!

Oliver had a slight case of jaundice but nothing that warranted being put on a bili ruben blanket like Amelia had her first week, so we just let him bathe in the sun for a few minutes.

Grandpa and Grandma came down to visit and spend some time with Amelia.

This was Oliver's first bath ... in the kitchen sink.

And thankfully he loves taking a bath (I know it doesn't seem that way from the previous photo, but after I took that photo he was all quiet and serene.)

Sleeping soundly ... unfortunately not at 4am.

Amelia loves playing with her babydolls and taking care of them ... she's just the sweetest.

All in all, things are going well ... we're still trying to adjust to the night-time feeding schedule though. The worst time of day is between 4 and 6 a.m. Oliver usually wakes up somewhere around 4 or so for a feeding and has the toughest time going back to sleep or at least staying asleep. His other problem is that he is TERRIBLY gasey! He seems like he's in so much pain

Amelia has been a wonderful big sister. She is super understanding and is wise beyond her years. Seriously, she is. When Oliver cries she tells me to pick him up, and if he still cries she tells me that I need to hold him so that he's up on my shoulder — this typically gets him to stop crying almost immediately — and she knows it. She is very gentle with him and loves to give him hugs and kisses.

And for how wonderful she is with Oliver she is struggling in other areas. She's had a terrible time napping at school so when she comes home she is a train wreck! Some nights are better than others but the nights when she's been up for 12 hours straight we know we're in for a tough time. That little girl certainly has a temper too! And she talks back like a 15-year-old ... it's crazy! I don't know where she's learning to be so defiant, maybe it's genetic (and that'd be my fault!) We're hoping this is just still an adjustment period for her and that things will get better.

We haven't had many visitors so if anyone is looking for something to do we'd love to see you!
